History
Originally called the Roehampton University of Higher Education, the University of Roehampton was founded in the United Kingdom in 1975. One of the first public universities in London, Roehampton has been around for more than 180 years. To provide academic excellence for women, four teacher training colleges were founded at the beginning of the 19th century: Digby Stuart College, Froebel College, Southlands College, and Whitelands College.
Afterwards, in 1975, these four colleges united to become the Roehampton University of Higher Education.
The University of Roehampton was formally renamed as the Roehampton University of Higher Education in 2011. One of the most well-known public universities in London, the University of Roehampton offers undergraduate, graduate, and research programs to both domestic and foreign students.
